AMERICAN CONTRABAND.
AN AMICABLE SETTLEMENT. (Reed. 2.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, Jan, 5. The United States Government has decided to certify to the exact contents of American cargoes, before leaving pert. This is expected to simplify the British navy’s task. British consultation in New York has resulted in an organised corps of inspectors ibeing appointed to cope with the large demand fer inspection of cargoes prior to sailing. Xrays are largely used to prevent the Inclusion of copper and other metals In cotton bales.
