It is announced by cable to-day that the South African rebellion lias iizzled out. Large captures of rebels have been made.
James Cloud was brought before the' Magistrate this morning to answer a third charge of drunkenness. He was convicted and fined £l, in default seven days' imprisonment. Two first offenders were also convicted, one being discharged and the other forfeiting the amount of his bail, 5/-.
Somerville, Cook, Neagle (sub.), McKenzie (s) were again called on xu defend the "Feathers" at the bowling green yesterday afternoon, but again proved victorious, the scores being 28 to 13. The challenging team was Hesketh, Johnson, De Luen, and Wilson (8).
Bruno Moller, an habitual crimina'., made his escape from tin Wainiarino Prison Camp en Sunday night and has as yet managed to .i\cid the long arm of ]*v,' Ho i s classified as a desperate criminal who was serving a sentence for kousebreaki.'i£. He is ai* -Jl-round athlete and up to all the tricks of the trade. He is thick-set and about sft 4in in height, has a reddish face and fair hair, and 6peaks with a very foreign accent, either Swiss or German. No information is to hand as to his present whereabouts.
