AUSTRALASIANS IN EGYPT. ! (Rec. 10 a.m.) Press Association —Copyright. MELBOURNE, This Day. Mr. Pearce emphatically denies the rumour that the Australasians in Egypt have engaged the enemy. AUSTRALIAN POLITICS. WHEAT SEIZURE BILL. Received 10 a.m. Dee. 10 The Council amendment altering the fixed price of seized wheat from five shillings to six shillings was negatived by twenty three to ten. The Bill as then amended was leaving it open to the sellers to appeal to the Commodities Commission, which body has been given power to increase the Government price after hearing evidence. Mr. Air. Flowers intimated that the Government did not want to seize all wheat unless necessary. Farmers could sell unseized wheat how and where they liked. The Council passed the taxation Bill, amendments. The sesison ended by adjourned to January 27. The Commodities Commission recommended that the Government issue a proclamation against increased prices of beer and spirits. No action has yet been taken.
