POLITICAL.

ARRANGEMENTS FOR TO-NIGHT. We have arranged to receive the results of to-day’s polling from electorates in the Dominion and, per medium of a lantern kindly lent by Mr. W. Kincade, results will be shown, as they come to hand, cn a screen at Finch’s Bazaar corner. Naturally complete results will not be available to-night but messages will be screened up to an, early hour in the morning. The Times is issuing a handy pocket companion to last election’s returns and this will show how the candidates polled at each booth last election, while spaces have been left in which, can be inserted to-day’s result. This election card should meet with a ready sale at one penny each and will be obtainable from street sellers. Country centres will be supplied with the results by communicating with telephones 39 or 78, but as the demands on our staff will he great, we would ask town folk to show a little consideration by refraining from communicating with us by telephone. Mr, De Latcur has kindly placed a portion of his suite of rooms at our disposal for this evening, but we desire to make it clear that the general public cannot be admitted as continual interruption would delay the screening cf the results. However, candidates, their chairmen of committees and secretaries will be welcome at cur temporary rooms. The local candidates, Messrs. Smith and Speed, will address the electors from the precints of the Times’ screen and whatever may be the result of the polling both gentlemen are entitled to, and should received, a good hearing It is hoped that, while some may be in exuberant spirit, any pretence of rowdyism will be absent. But don’t forget to purchase a Times election card —Price one penny.
