“RETURN OF DR. FU MANCHU” Five actors who took part In the thrilling episodes of “The Mysterious Dr. Fu Manchu” will repeat their characterisations of that film when Paramount’s “The Return of Dr. Fu Manchu” comes to the Civic Theatre today. Fight of the actors in the earlier “Fu Manchu” film will not appear in the forthcoming picture, because they were killed off by the insidious doctor! Warner Oland again plays the scheming oriental who, if you remember, swallowed poison to thwart his detective enemies’ plans to take him alive. It becomes apparent in “The Return of Dr. Fu Manchu” that the poison was by no means lethal, and that the sleek, sloe-eyed monster of machinations is now very much alive. lie returns more full of plots and devilry than a woman’s bridge party. O. P. Ileggie, as Inspector Nayland Smith of Scotland Yard, again leads the forces of the law against Fu Manchu. Jean Arthur carries on as Lia Eltham, ward of Dr. Fu, who escaped his toils in the first film, and who is now the object of his unrelenting pursuit. Another capital supporting programme will also be presented this evening.
