Detectives Search for Diplomat's Keys

WHITEHALL PERTURBED INTERNATIONAL SENSATION United P.A.—By Telegraph—Copyright Reed. Noon. LONDON, Wednesday. Whitehall is most perturbed over tiie robbery of Mr. Noel Barker at Geneva. The fewest details have been disclosed beyond the confirmation of the actual theft of the keys, but the incident borders on a sensational international crime. Detectives are making every effort to recover the keys, which were of the kind that diplomats never release from their possession and always have securely fastened to their person. A cable from London yesterday stated: —It is reported from Geneva that Mr. Noel Barker, a member of the House of Commons, and his wife, were awakened by an intruder in their bedroom at their hotel. They found a cat burglar ransacking the place. The intruder escaped after threatening Mr. Barker with a revolver. The affair is enveloped in secrecy, but it is understood that the burglar secured certain keys of dispatch boxes resembßng those used for the carriage of Foreign Office confidential documents.
