WHALING REGULATIONS
N.Z.’S SHARE IN BENEFITS QUESTION ASKED IN HOUSE THE HUN'S Parliamentary Reporter . PARLIAMENT BLDGS., Tuesday. New Zealand's activities in the whaling industry were the subject of a question tills evening by Mr. J. S. Fletcher (Independent—Grey Lynn) to the Minister of Marine, the lion. J. B. Donald. Mr. Fletcher asked what was being done by the Marine Departs ment regarding the whaling industry in the seas south of New Zealand. Had any atempt been made to have New Zealand represented at the whaling convention at Geneva? Last year more than £500,000 had been taken out of Southern waters. What had tbe Government done in the directfon of helping New Zealand industry and providing work for New Zealanders? Mr. Donald said that regulations governing whaling had been agreed upon by the countries interested in . the industry and whaling in the future would be carried on on the basis of that agreement.
