MAJESTIC

“NEW YORK NIGHTS” Norma Talmadge, whose popularity as one of the ten most successful screen stars has never waned, comes now in a production that promises new revelations of her talent. In “New York Nights,” the musical, all-talking picturisation of the stage play “Tin Pan Alley,” which opens at the Majestic Theatre today, she will not only appear in a role particularly suited to her gifts—the role of chorus-girl—but she will be seen dancing and will be heard singing the newest A 1 Jolson - Dave Dreyer composition, “A Year From ToHav.” The cliorlis-girl role is not altogether unfamiliar to the star. One of the most successful pictures she ever made, “Kiki,” presented her as a typical Broadway chorine. In “New York “N ight s,” under Lewis Milestone’s direction, however, she offers even a more convincing and likeable portrait of those glamorous showgirls that infest the Tin Pan Alley of New York City. Playing the lead opposite Miss Talmadge, for the fourth consecutive picture, is Gilbert Roland as the songwriter. John Wray, actor-playwright, ; is the “heavy”; Lilyan Tashman is a I hard-boiled chorus-girl. Others in the cast are Roscoe Karns and Mary Doran.
