“THE CUCKOOS” AT PLAZA

The talkie now screening at the Plaza Theatre, ‘‘The' Cuckoos,” Is one long, loud laugh. Songs and settings and dances mingle pleasingly throughout. The film is not a revue, nor is it a musical comedy, though it contains the elements of both, but it certainly offers a distinct departure from the usual type of picture. There is no theme song; rather there are about live numbers that merit being theme songs, but each is heard just enough to make it interesting, and then on to something new and equally delightful. But comedy is the keynote; not the conventional kind of comedy, but mad, irresponsible foolery that produces roar after roar of laughter. Robert Woolsey and Bert Wheeler, the comedians of ‘‘Rio Rita,” are the cheerful lunatics responsible.
