MID-DAY ROBBERY
DARING INTRUDER ENTERS OCCUPIED HOUSE THREEPENNY BIT HAUL A man who broke into a house in City Road yesterday must have been a silent worker* Though it was at midday and there were two people in the house, lie succeeded in effecting a daring robbery. A domestic and the wife of the owner, Mr. J. 11. Frater, were busy about the house during the morning. Shortly after noon Mrs. Frater entered her bedroom and found that someone had ransacked the top drawer of her dressing-table, removing a purse and about £ 8 10s in cash, after examining several other bags. Whoever the intruder is, he now has more threepenny bits than lie knows what to do with. Among the “trophies” of the visit was a moneybox containing .at least £ts worth of those coins. A bridge purse with some small change was also taken, and a £5 note was removed from another purse. A third purse in the same drawer contained four £1 notes. These the burglar overlooked, apparently feeling tho purse with his hand and. not being able to detect the notes.
