“CHARMING SINNERS” “Charming Sinners,” which is enjoying a return season at the London Theatre, is a successful adaptation of W. Somerset Maugham’s play, “The Constant Wife.” Four noted players, Ruth Chatterton. Mary Nolan, Clive Brook and William Rowell give splendid performances in the principal roles. Possessed of an easy, natural manner, Miss Chatterton is cast as the wife of the erring Dr. Robert Miles, a part played by Clive Brook, who carries on a mild flirtation with the pretty young wife of a devoted business man. The means adopted by “Kathryn” to make her husband mend his ways are both novel and entertaining. Bright supports complete the programme. “THE CUCKOOS” AT PLAZA A riot of fun is “Tbe Cuckoos.” for those with a sense of humour, at the Plaza Theatre this week. The film is not a revue, nor is it n, musical comedy, though it contains the elements of both, but it certainly offers a distinct departure from the usual type of picture. There is no theme song; rather there are about five numbers that merit being theme songs, but each is heard just enough to make it interesting, and then on to something new and equally delightful. i Robert Woolsey- and Bert Wheeler, the comedians of “Rio Rita,” are the cheerful lunatics responsible.
