WHANGAREI BRIDE HAS LOVELY GOWN OF IVORY BROCADE

CARROLL—CLOTWORTHY A wedding of widespread interest was celebrated this week at the Church of St. Francis Xavier. Whangarei, when Veronica, the youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. Clotworthy, of Whau Valley, Whangarei, was married to Emmett, second son of Mr. and Mrs. T. Carroll, of Maungakaramea. The Rev. Father Herring conducted j tho ceremony and Miss Hazel Jones j presided at the organ. The bride, who entered the church j on the arm of her brother, Mr. Frank j Clotworthy, wore an exquisite frock of j : Ivory brocaded faconne, which was I | graceful in its simplicity. The long- ! j sleeved bodice was tight fitting and | tho full flared skirt hung in soft flutes Ito the ankle. She carried a shower bouquet of white hyacinths, sweet ' peas and asparagus fern. Her veil of : embroidered brussels net was held in place by small clusters of orange blossom. Forming a train the veil was carried by two small page boys, Kevin | Griflin and Dun Clot worths’, nephews of the bride, who were dressed in suits of white satin. The bride was attended bv two bridesmaids, Miss Peg. Frood and Miss Elva Loyd-Fenton, both of Auckland ‘ who tore attractive frocks of shell [ pink. The tight-fitting bodices of bro. * i caded taffeta had deep yokes of geor- 1 j gette and the flared ankle-length ; skirts were composed of tiny georgette | frills. With these were worn hats of i pink pandan straw. Both carried posies ' of lemon primroses and pink sweet . peas. Mr. T. O’Carroll, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. and Mr. Jack O’Sullivan. Opotiki, cousin of the ; bridegroom, was groomsman. After the ceremony a reception was held at the Settlers’ Hotel. The bride’s mother received her guests at- ' tractively gowned in a frock of navy | satin beaute, with a hat of navy and : gold. She carried a posy of violets. } The bridegroom’s mother wore a smart • frock of black georgette and a black 5 hat with orange trimmings. Her posy i was of Iceland poppies. The bind© and bridegroom left by motor, en route for the South, the I bride wearing a smart tailored costume j and fox furs, with hat to tone.
