TIMBER TARIFF
MARKET PRICE DROPS Interesting information on. the results of the new tariff on Canadian timber was given at a meeting of the Chamber of Commerce council this morning, following the suggestion of a member that there had been an increase in the shipping subsidy to the extent of the new tariff rate. Inquiries by the chamber have shown that such a development has not taken place, though there has been a reduction in the market price of timber for New Zealand to the amount of four-fifths of tho now tariff.
