WELLINGTON RUGBY TOUR
TRIBUTE PAID TO TEAM Press Association WELLINGTON, On the return of the Wellington Rugby touring team, the manager. Mr. J. -N. Millard, reported to the Wellington Union that although the loss of the Ranfurly Shield was a severe one to the Southland Union, the Southern officials b a d taken the defeat in a fine sporting spirit. A. E. Cooke had been taken to a doctor in Christchurch, and later had entered the hospital for an X-ray examination. “I would like to place on record,’ Mr. Millar concluded, “my high opinion of the touring team. On and off the field they were a real credit to this union.” ' Mr. Prendeville, chairman, said the team was to be congratulated on the success of its tour in winning the Ranfurly Shield, and most particularly in defeating the Canterbury side. Mr. Millar observed that the tour had definitely shown that Wellington had a fine team of forwards. Cooke’s injury was only a minor one, and he has since recovered.
