SALTASH SOLD

SIRE OF STREPHON ECLIPSE STAKES WINNER The imported stallion Saltash, sire in his lirst season <xt Strephon, has been sold by the New South Wales owner, Mr. Percy Miller, to Mr. L. J. Moran, of Sowper, ClaTence Kiver. Mr. Moran, who also owns the stallion Chrysolaus, recently visited the Ivia-Ora Stud, Scone, and was so impressed by the appearance of Saltash lhat he inquired of Mr. Miller whether the horse could be bought, air. aiiller was not anxious to part with him, but as lie has seven other stallions at his establishment, he accepted the substantial offer made. Mr. Moran should have no regrets about his latest purchase, as Saltash .ts a beautifully-bred horse, by Sunstar from Harnoaze, and, therefore, a brother to Buchan, the leading English sire of 1927. He was a great galloper hirriself, his successes including the Eclipse Stakes, worth £8,735, and being only an 11-year-old to Australian time, is in his prime as a stallion. Apart from Strephon, Saltash has sired Salzach, Clarion Call, Santorb, Solitaire and other good gallopers. Ozone, for whom Mr. G. D. Greenwood paid a solid price as a yearling, is a son of Saltash. Ozone is engaged in most of the three-year-old classics this* season.
