Star Comet had Royal Visitor as a companion over hurdles and performed his task in satisfactory fashion. The pair were galloped six furlongs on the flat and were joined by Sunwell over the last half-mile, and they finished together. They were not cx- ] tended. First At Avondale Beau Irish, one of A." P. Brady’s charges, strode out freely over three furlongs and is shaping well. He was accompanied in his effort by the Illumination—Lady Kairua filly from the same stable. They will be having their first outing of the season at Avondale. The Sun was among the track workers out this morning, and indicated by the quality of his work that he was benefited by his Pakuranga outing. The Sun Cure gelding is an improved horse. Tradesman was another track attendant that pleased by his display. He is entered for the mile at Avondale, and on his track work should not disgrace himself. He was sent over half a mile on the course proper, and relished the going. Pad don, who gave a good account of himself at Marton, is in good trim for his Avondale Cup engagement, and will carry solid support from local punters He is looking in great nick, and has made a vast improvement as a result of his Southern trip. Holly Holm and Glena Bay were given useful exercise.
