ANNUAL MEETING HELD IN WELLINGTON THIS YEAR’S PRIZE-WINNERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Delegates representing all branches attended the annual conference of the New Zealand Journalists’ Association, held in Wellington on Saturday. The vice-president, Mr. G. L. Stanbrook (Auckland) presided. The results of the association’s hnnual competition for the prize in good journalism were announced as follow: E. K. Green (Christchurch), 1; E. C. Powell (Dunedin), 2; E. C. Marris (Christchurch), 3. The judges, Professor It. Lawson, of the Otago University, and Mr. W. F, Alexander, editor of the Dunedin “Star.” stated in their report on the competition that the general level of the contributions sent in was quite reasonably high.

The conference decided that headquarters should remain at Auckland, and the following officers were elected: —President, Mr. R. H. Melville; vice-president, Mr. G. L. Stanbrook; secretary, Mr. J. M. Mackenzie; treasurer, Mr. T. Clarkson. Other members of the council are appointed each year by the branches. The conference considered a large number of questions affecting the welfare of Dominion journalists. The choice of representatives of the New Zealand Press in sporting tours and other important assignments abroad was discussed, and it was decided to ask the Press Association to consult the Journalists’ Association when such appointments were being made.
