OLD LANDMARK GOES
DEMOLITION OF CHIMNEY For nearly 30 years the £d,l 1 chimney, which Messrs. D.S.C, and Cousins and Cousins, Ltd., had erected for their steam plant, has looked owt over Auckland City from the top *>f Chancery Street. No longer needed, it will be demolished this montfc. No smoke has blown over tjhe town from this 110-foot stack for several years now, steam having yieflded to electricity.
Monumental to a passing age, this brick column is of no further nse and its space is needed. Therefore it is being pulled down. Another tall chimney which has been demolished lately was the one standing over Messrs. Donaghy's Rope Works, Stanley Street.
