TOWN HALL ORGAN RECITAL

An organ recital was given by Mr. Maughan Barnett, city organist, in the Town Hall last evening, providing several interesting and popular selections. The first movement of Handel’s Concerto No. 4 opened the entertainment. This was followed by two Bach pieces, the “Fantasia Imitatione,” and the Gavotte in D. The Idylle and Toccata from Rheinberger’s 14th Sonata and Guilmant’s “Funeral March,” and “Hymn of the Seraphs,” were exceptionally interesting. Mendelssohn’s “Duetto and Spring Song” and Johnston’s “Evensong,” were brilliantly played. A Capocci selection concluded the programme.
