CHILDREN’S PARTY
FANCY DRESS BALL HELD AT WAIOEKA ORIGINAL COSTUMES The children’s annual fancy dress danco was held in the Waioeka hall. Opotiki. on Wednesday evening. There was a very large attendance of children and adults, and a very happy time was spent. Much time and thought had been spent on the children’s costumes, and the judges had a very difficult time In awarding prizes.. The music was supplied by the Semla Orchestra. Prize-winners were as follow: Girls, under five years—Beth Semple. Victorian Debutante; girls, five to eight years—Dorothy Hedley, Butterfly; boys, five to eight years—Troy Wingate, Heavy Weight Lifter; girls, eight to eleven years—June and Beryl Bellcrby. Two Little Girls in Blue; boys, eight to eleven years—Alurray Scott, Robinson Crusoe; girls. 11 to 3 4 years—Peggy Tod. Senorita; boys. 11 to 14 years—George Shalfoon. Old Alan: girls, 14 to 16—Cathleen Jephson, Egyptian Lady; boys, 14 to 16 —Tom Clark, Absent-minded Professor; most original costume Reg. Wingate, Shareholder; poster costume. Fay Knowles, Sunny Jim: most original costume, girls—Norma Knowles, Sylvia Starch. Others in costume were: Clare and Marie Reid, Columbines; Chrissie Lee, Radio; Lillie Lee, Egyptian Lady: Barbara Stuart. Night; Audrey Hedley, Rosebud; Afyrtle Lowe, Rose; Gwendn Burrett, Clock; Norris Davies, Wasp; Elza and Ola Abbot, Buttercups and Daisies; Jean Allan. Pierrette; Freda Johnson, Chinese Girl; Patricia Thompson. Danger Signals; Betty Cunningham Pierrette; Sadie Roberts. Eastern Lady; Efile Semple. Circus Rider; Elnm Wingate. Reform Party: Ethel Lee.
