RIFLE SHOOTING
PAEROA MINATURE CLUB LAST MATCH OF SEASON Members of the Paeroa Miniature Rifle Club fired the last handicap match for tlio 1930 season on the 26 yards range in the local Prill Hall on Wednesday evening. Good scoring was witnessed, and a very keen fight was put up in the shoot-off between five members who reached the limit, 100, lor the three handsome trophies that were donated by the president (Mr. F. C. Hubbard.), Mr. E. Morris and Mr. R. I. Wells for first, second and third prizes respectively. In the shoot-off, K. W. (Bruce) Roberts again reached the limit with his handicap, and being the only one to do so, he was declared the winner. A. E. Pearson gained the second prize with a total of 99 and F. Patterson third with 98. The top score off the rifle for the evening was registered by A. A. Jenkinson with 9S.

The shoot-off resulted: R. W. Roberts, 89, 12, 100; A. E. Pearson. 96, 3, 99: F. Patterson. 90. 8, 98: A. A. Jenkinson. 95 2 97; L. Morris. 90. 6. 96. At the conclusion of the shooting. the president congratulated the winners on their good shooting and presented the prizes. He said that as this was the last shoot for the season he wished to thank members for the support accorded the club throughout the season, and took the opportunity of hoping to see all that were present on the .303 range when it opened for the coming season next month. He said it was indeed pleasing to see such a steady improvement in the shooting and also to note that many were now able to
adjust the sights themselves. In conclusion, Mr. Hubbard hoped to see every present member of the Miniature Club on the miniature range again next season and to bring others along with them.
N.Z. CHAMPIONSHIP
PAEROA CLUB ENTERS TEAM The New Zealand Miniature Rifle Association has arranged a teams competition between teams of miniature rifle clubs throughout New Zealand for the Witcombe and Caldwell Cup. Each team is to consist of five members, all of one club, and they may shoot on their own range at any between September 1 and 13 of this year before two appointed supervisors who must bo in no way connected with tho club. After each team has shot, the targets are sent to the association in Wellingon for marking purposes, and the result will not be known until about the end of the month.
The Paeroa Miniature Rifle Club has entered a team to be selected from the following members, and will shoot on the rifle range in the local Drill Hall on next Tuesday evening: Messrs. F. C. Hubbard, A. A. Jenkinson. H. A. Morrison A. E. Pearson, E. Turton. R. I. Wells. ’
