IN THE BLOOD
A South Island trainer recently received a letter from one of his patrons suggesting that he should try his (the patron’s) representative in the stable over the battens, as the gelding’s grandmother was a natural jumper. This line of argument brings to mind a recent case of the father of a stablehand contending that the boy should develop into a good rider, as his mother was a full sister to “T. 8.,” one of the best horsemen of his day in New Zealand.
