NEW HEADQUARTERS
SUCCESSFUL TRAINER FOR ELLERSLIE INTENTIONS OF G. JONES Mr. W. IT. Gaisford’s announcement that lie intended to retire temporarily from tli© ranks of owners' grave private trainer George Jones a long-desired opportunity—that of following his occupation as a trainer in the Auckland district. The former Greenmeadows mentor will probably decide on Ellerslie for his future headquarters, and to that end he is in Auckland finalising arrangements. During a lengthy association with the game extending over 18 years, Jones has been wonderfully successful, the total number of winners under his direction in that period aggregating 243, including several good Australian successes. Previously Jones’s candidates sported only the livery of Mr. W. G. Stead, but in the last five years Jones has been under appointment to Mr. Gaisford.
It is the intention of trainer Jones to make the change to public training, and the experience and continual success he has enjoyed on the turf should ensure him a full measure of patronage from Auckland owners. The following list is an indication of the number of good races won by horses which have passed under Jones-. Sasanof —New Zealand Clip, G. G.
