“NOT FOR PAYING PLAYERS 1 ’ LEAGUE COUNCIL DISCUSSION The Council of Management of the New Zealand Rugby Football League last evening discussed the recommendations of the Rugby League conference which met recently in Auckland and recommended that the senior teams be cut down to six and percentages of the gates be granted to the clubs. The question was introduced by Air. 11. Lipscombe, who asked what the fujl intentions of the conference were with regard to the liorcentages of the gates to be granted to clubs. The chairman, Mr. C. A. Snedden. said that the gate percentages had been discussed, and they were recommended with a view to giving clubs a fund whereby they could organise, and give players the opportunity of training to reach-such a state of efficiency as would keep up the standard of the 'fame it was hoped to attain.
