James approached the Board of Appeal with regard to the six ' months’ suspension imposed on him bv the A.R.C. stewards at Ascot on July 30, and received a severe shock when | the board not only upheld the stewlards’ decision, but increased the term of suspension to two years. The term of six months’ disqualification imposed on G. W. Smith, ownertrainer of Doris Eaton, was struck out, i and h-' was exonerated from all blame }in the matter. The board was unanij mous in its decision, from which there I is no appeal. The incident occurred through the handling of Doris Eaton in the second { Flying Handicap at Ascot on July 3». when the mare was the medium of solid public support, but failed to run true I to form. j James resents the suggestion that he was implicated with a fielder with regard to the mare. This James most positively denies. He declares that he told his pals to back the mare, and that he did all that he could to bring her home a winner.
