VANDALISM IN OUTHWAITE PARK BOYS ON BICYCLES Small boys who ride bicycles will no longer be allowed to do so in the Outhwaite Memorial Park. The Newmarket Borough Council Is perturbed at several cases of “vandalism” in the park. At its meeting last evening the council decided to forbid the use of the park to cyclists and to take steps to have it patrolled by the police. Cr. W. J. Jaffrev raised the question. “There has been an astonishing amount of vandalism there,” he said. “Boys on bicycles have destroyed flowers and paths, while several windows in an outhouse have been broken.” He moved that the Mount Eden police be asked to include the park in their patrol. Describing the condition of the park as “shocking.” Cr. Michaels moved, as an amendment, that a complaint be made to the superintendent of police as well. The amendment was carried, the question of making good the damage being left to the Works Committee.
