BACK TO OLD ORDER
POLICE CONTROL IN FOUR CENTRES ONLY ONE INSPECTOR By a reversion to the old system of police control in the four centres, Mr. J. W. Hollis becomes the only inspector in Auckland. It will not be necessary to appoint a successor to Mr. J. Mcllveney who, until the appointment of Mr. S. Till, of Wanganui, as superintendent at Auckland, was in charge of the Auckland metropolitan area. In 1927, a system of co-ordinated control was introduced by the former police commissioner, Mr. W. B. Mcllveney. Mr. W. G. Wohlmann became superintendent in charge of the head district and Mr. J. Mcllveney was made inspector in charge of the metropolitan area, controlling suburban police stations. Mr. J. W. Hollis, who was in charge at Whangarei, was placed in charge of the Auckland central district and had particular charge of the detective work. The change means that the areas which had been split into two districts have now been made one again and will be under the control of a superintendent and inspector, Messrs. S. Till and J. W. Hollis, respectively in Auckland.
