The Morrinsville Fire Brigade has received a letter from the Cambridge brigade expressing thanks to the visiting members of the Morrinsville brigade who assisted in fighting a fire in the town on the night of the Cambridge brigade’s dance. It is announced by the postmaster at Morrinsville that the contract for a daily rural mail service from Morrinsville to Te Puninga and Tatuanui has been let to the Wallace Supplies. Ltd., and the service should start. about October 1. The mail will leave Morrinsville in the mornings, and return early in the afternoon. The service has been granted as the result of a petition from residents of the district. The Mangateparu school committee has been advised that the Education Department has authorised the appointment of a third teacher at the school, and it is probable that the Auckland Education Board will make an appointment at its meeting, this week, in readiness for the reopening of the school on Monday. At present the school has over 90 children on the roll, and an average attendance of 84.
