Visitors Entertained At a bridge evening given by Mrs. Dannefaerd, of Arawa Street, Rotorua, recently, Mrs. R. Raw and Miss Florence Raw were the guests of honour. Mrs. Dannefaerd received the guests wearing a frock of cherry embossed georgette. _ , Airs. Raw had on a gown of black satin beaute. Aliss Raw wore a frock of floral chiffoy. The room was arranged with bowls of daffodils, jonquils, Iceland poppies and violets. Progressive bridge was played. Aliss G. Booth winning the first prize and Aliss J. Drummond the consolation prize. Among those present were: Aliss Dannefaerd, Aliss 11. Dannefaerd, Airs. Booth, Aliss G. Booth, Aliss L. Hookworth Aliss Aloore, AJiss Holland, Miss V. Holland, Aliss N. Holland, Miss K. Hall, Miss AI. Cooney, Aliss J. Drummond. * BRIDGE PARTY A most enjoyable bridge party arranged by Air. Rees-George visited the home of Judge and Mrs. Holland recently, in honour of Aliss Nancy Holland. Aliss Holland received the guests, wearing a frock of beige knit silk, and Airs. Holland, who assisted her, had on a frock of navy blue marocain. Bowls of pussy willow and daffodils were arranged in the bridge room. The guests were entertained with progressive bridge. G. McDowell. Bell, Simmonds, Speer, ReesGeorge. F. Grove. JOLLY DANCE PARTY COMING-OF-AGE CELEBRATED A jolly coming-of-age party was given in the Alount Eden Tea Kiosk in honour of Aliss Micky Eaves. The tables were arranged with Iceland poppies and Stacey’s Revellers played excellent dance music. During the evening items were given by Aliss AI. Smith and Air. Bill Stacey. Airs. H. Eaves received the guests, wearing a frock of navy bengaline relieved with beige georgette. Aliss Micky Eaves had on a frock of sky blue floral taffeta. Among those present were: Aliss N. Eaves, who wore sage green taffeta and lace; Aliss B. Peek, navy crepe de chine: Aliss I. Webb, black crepe de chine; Aliss I. Marshall, nile green lace and pink georgette; Aliss AI. Smith, frock of bronze satin; Aliss B. Tosswill, old rose taffeta and tulle; Miss R. Smith, cedar rose georgette; Miss R. Menzies. black taffeta and lace; Aliss N. Keely, emerald green georgette; Miss J. Keely. shell pink sprigged taffeta; Miss J. Surman. maize satin and tulle; Miss E. Surman. moonlight blue net; Aliss W. Sherriff, lime green taffeta; Aliss J. WOMEN’S INSTITUTES PROVINCIAL MEETINGS The monthly meeting of the Paengaroa Women’s Institute was held in the hall recently, Airs. J. S. Black presiding. Business occupied a longer time than usual owing to the large number who wished to be enrolled as members. Aliss Cruickshank, secretary, referred to the visit of the organiser. Airs. Wittenhall, who, since last meeting, had addressed the committee, and many of her useful hints were passed on to the members. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames Steel, Riddel and Mailman. A feature of the afternoon was The Round Tabje Conference, in which every member took part in the discussion of a three months’ programme. An entertainment committee was then elected. KOPURAHIBRANCH A meeting of the Kopurahi Women’s Institute was held at the residence of Airs. J. G. Miller. The president, Mrs. New sham, presided. Airs. AlcAlillan read a paper on "‘The Women’s Institutes—Whay They Are and What They are Doing,” and Airs. J. Flynn sang two songs. Afternoon tea was served, the committee acting as hostesses. Airs. Newsham gave a demonstration of making puff pastry in 15 minutes. Two delegates were selected to represent the institute at the convention in Auckland this month. AIEETING AT WELLSFORD A meeting of the Wellsford Women’s Institute was presided over by the president. Airs. W. R. Grant. After business matters had been dealt with a competition was held. An honours roll, drawn and painted by Airs. Harwood, was presented by her to the institute. The hostesses were Airs. Amor. Airs. Dubi, Airs. Harwood and Airs. Hare. NEW MEAIBERS WELCOMED AT NETHERTON A meeting of the Netherton Women’s Institute was held in the Public Hall on Tuesday. The president, Airs. Scudamore, welcomed several new members. Mrs. Andrews was elected vicepresident and Mesdames P. Harold, L. C. Sanderson and M. Olsen, members of the committee. Mrs. Scudamore contributed an enjoyable monologue entitled “The Eleventh Episode.” Arrangements were concluded for a children’s paper fancy dress ball in aid of the local hall fund. NORTHCOTE EX-SERVICEMEN WOMEN'S COMMITTEE ELECTED At a meeting of Northcote women, held in Brennan’s Tea Rooms at Northcote on Alonday afternoon, the following formed themselves into a committee for the purpose of assisting the Northcote Ex-Servicemen’s Association at its social functions, the funds from which are to be devoted to assist unemployed ex-servicemen residing in Northcote: Airs. F. W. Wilkes, Mesdames F. Townsend, A. J. Lennon, J. R. Bethwaite, W. Fullbrook, F. Williams. W. Carter, W. Racket and Airs. C. Isbister. Subsequently Airs. F. W. Wilkes was elected chairwoman, and Airs. F. Townsend secretary. Letters of apology were also received from many women who were not able to be present With the valuable assistance of this committee, the association intends holding a grand dance at an earlv date for the purpose of raising funds to carry out the objects of the association. \
