ST. JAMES
“SALLY” PROVES POPULAR Beautiful and colourful settings, some of them among the most costly ever built for a motion picture, provide the backgrounds for Marilyn Miller’s first picture, “Sally,” now attracting large audiences to the St. James Theatre. The picture is made entirely in natural colour by the technicolour process, and is described as a dazzling production with gorgeous ballets and dancing ensembles, lilting melodies, comedy and romance. “Sally” as a stage play was one of the prettiest of the musical comedies in the history of the stage. As a picture its beauty exceeds even that of the stage version, for the screen allows a much greater latitude In spectacular settings and effects. On the stage “Sally” was Marilyn Miller’s greatest success; on the screen it has already established her as a star of the first magnitude.
