CHATHAM CUP FINAL
GAME AT WELLINGTON NEXT SATURDAY PETONE’S WEAKENED TEAM Special 1 o THE SUE WELLINGTON, Today. At present, Petone’s chances of beating the Western Club (Christchurch) in the national final for the Chatham Cup begin to appear very sfnall indeed. The game is to be played next Saturday, and last week-encl Petone met the Waterside team, which is leading for the local senior championship, in the final match of the season. The play naturally was keen, and the Waterside men, in their keenness, made things a little too willing. In the first few minutes McAusland, the Petone fullback, was badly injured and has had to be taken to hospital. Then Campbell, the Petone centre-half, had one leg lipped open from ankle to knee and went off the field, along with the opposing centre-half, whom Campbell was cautioned for tackling heavily. Finally, Leslie, the star centre-forward, received a kick on an already weak ankle, and was a cripple for the rest of the match. It is doubtful if he will be able to play.
