STRAND

“BENSON MURDER CASE” Two exceptionally good films are being screened at the Strand Theatre. The first is entitled “The Benson Murder Case,” and has William Powell back again as Philo Vance, the detective. Five suspects ate hopelessly involved with the killing of a stock broker, and yet nothing can be proved against any of them. Each had his motive for the crime; each had the desire to commit it; but only one of them did commit it. and that’s where Philo Vance’s brains are required, to sift the mystery to the bottom. The audience is on the qui vivo every second. Each twist of the plot seems to open a way to final solution; every turn of the story seems to reveal the answer to the puzzle. But Vance surprises everyone, and proves lie’s right. “Crazy That Way” is the second feature on an enjoyable bill.
