FLAX GRADING RETURNS
The amounts of hemp and tow graded at Auckland during August show considerable decreases as compared with the quantities for the corresponding month last year. Excepting high and low from hemp, and No. 1 tow, fewer bales of all grades of both hemp and tow were received. No stripper slips were handled, as has been the case for a considerable period. The following table shows the number of bales graded last month, tho figures for August, 1929, being given in parentheses: Hemp.—Fine, — (1): good fair, 50 (142); high fair, 153 (124); low fair, 167 (131); common, 9 (149); rejected, 4 (28); total, 383 (575) bales. Tow.—No. 1, 29 (26); No. 2, 28 (78); No. 3, 43 (47); condemned, 2 (13); total, 102 (164) bales. COMPANY REGISTRATIONS Recent company registrations in Auckland include: Tho North Shore Gazette, Limited, Devonport, printers, publishers, magazine and newspaper proprietors.
