“JUST A DERELICT”

SLEPT IN EMPTY HOUSE The open window of an unoccupied house In Grey Avenue was so inviting to homeless Michael McMahon that he entered and went to sleep. McMahon, a labourer, aged 58, pleaded guilty at the Police Court yesterday to being found on enclosed premises this morning. “He gave no excuse when he was found by a constable at 3 a.m.,” said Sub-Inspector Shanahan. “He is just a derelict, evidently.” Staff-Captain Holmes said that McMahon had been in town only a few days. He had had money when he arrived, but now it was gone. He had a job to go to. “See that he goes, then,” said Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., as he couvicted McMahon and ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon.
