WOMEN PLAY IN A GALE AT MELBOURNE NEW ZEALANDERS THIRD MELBOURNE, Friday. The competitors in the women’s foursome golf championship of Australia played today in a gale which made scoring difficult. Misses Kay and Rathbone (New Zealand), with a score of 90, were among the leaders at the end of the first round. In the second round the New Zealanders scored 87 and were beaten into third place. The winners were the Victorian pair. Mrs. Gatehouse and Miss Susie Tolhurst, with 175, and the runners-up were Mrs. Cox and Miss Nankivell, with 176.

Then came Miss Kay and Miss Rathbone, with 177. The winners of the 18 holes handicap were the Adelaide pair, Mrs. Jolly and Miss Taylor.
