CONCERT AT ST. HELIERS

PERFORMANCE BY CHILDREN An enjoyable concert was staged on Thursday evening in the Peerless Theatre, St. Heliers, by the scholars of St. Philip’s Sunday School, before a large audience of parents and friends. The principal item on the programme was the presentation in action and character of the popular song, “The Wedding of the Painted Doll.” The costumes worn were colourful and the various parts well sustained. Songs were sung by Master John Wright, Ray Trenewau, Ted Bennett and A. Brookfield. June Cartier and Athelary McCarr danced with grace and precision, and Joan Gisby recited. A song and dance was given by Misses King, Coates and Brookfield. Three scenic plays, “The Hollies' Lullaby,” "Wigwam and Prairie.” and “The Old Toys," followed by a spectacular drill exhibition by members of the Girls’ Club, terminated a most enjoyable concert.
