MANGERE CROQUET CLUB

POSTER AND MASQUERADE DANCE

The Mangere Public Hall was prettily decorated with coloured streamers tins week on the occasion of the ann,Ua\ poster and masquerade dance ot the Man sere Croquet Club. A delightful programme of dance music was contributed by Miss Marjorie Reel’s orchestra.

For the non-dancers a progressive card tournament was held. The judging of the costumes was carried out by Mesdames Harrison and Lddowes, and their awards were as follow:

Best poster, Mr. R. Pheasant, as Flit: most original costume, Mrs. Ellison as the Croquet Club's Shelter; best fancy dress, woman. Miss M. Balkham, as an Old English Lady; men, Mr. I. Moore as a Sheik.

Among those in fancy dress were: Airs Itenwood, as a Racing Sport: Mrs. w. \Y. Massey, Maori Wahine; Aliss E. Sharpe, Red Riding Hood; Mr. F. s. Tavior Pierrot; Miss if. Fowke, French Artist: Mr. ]. Moore, Sheik; Miss I. Pheasant, Gold Tinpod Cigarette; Aliss P. Kerr, Rio Rim; Mr. R. Pheasant, Flit; Mrs. Ellison. Uroquet Club Shelter; Miss Al. Balkham, Old English Lady.

Others present were:—Alls. W. P,. Knight, who wore a frock of black lace and georgette; Airs. E. Kerr, black and gold lace worn over crepe de chine; Mrs. L. R. Hancock, pastel pink embossed georgette, with diamente; Miss Owen Self, frocked in electric blue and russet georgette: Mrs. Grierson, black ninon with floral trimming: Mrs. S. Goudie. lichen green floral taffeta; Mrs. A. E. Wood, black georgette worn over flame satin; Airs. PL P. Paul, black and floral celenese silk: Airs. G. W. Martin, black celenese marocain; Mrs. G. A. Eddowes, wearing a_ frock of black georgette: Mrs. M. J. Mcore, black embossed georgette; Mrs. L. Prangley, sea green georgette and lace; Airs. T. L. Harrison, flesh-pink taffeta and georgette; Miss P. Weston, carmine embossed georgette; Aliss M. Costar. frock of moss green lace and shawl to tone: Aliss D. Weston, black ninon with diamente trimmings; Miss E. Owens, orchid pink and blue taffeta; Affcss 1,. Pheasant, mushroom pink georgette; Aliss Dorothy Blandford, sunset georgette; Aliss P. Reeve, sapphire blue moire taffeta, with crystal embroideries; Miss Kitty Reynolds, flame taffeta; Miss B. Kerr, ivory chenille georgette, with tiny fi'ills of georgette; Miss R. Reeves, ecru lace over mushroom pink, with tulle bow; Aliss K. Reynolds, maize beaded crepe de chine.
