It is not many who are favoured to see the Turk train. as ho (loos so in the privacy of his room, whore ho is free from prying eyes or critlcal comment. \Vhen The Sun mun arrived, Pasha. was stepping round tho room at a. fast pace, clad in :1 heavy sweater and shorts. The perspiration was streaming down his face :LS he stopped momentarily in greeting, and RL second later he was hard at it again, running with high knee action, jumping, side-stepping and shadowsmirring. As (I. boxer, tho Turk would be :1 tough nut to crack, it his shadowsnurring could he counted for anything. The roportvr kept well clear. as one of those mighty rights or lofts would have stunnvd an ox.
Having concluded the sparring exhibition, Pasha exercised on his back, following up with exercise with his muscle developer—an inner tube of a motor-car. The things he can do with that inner tube are surprising. First of all ho uses it as a body band and then he follows with innumerable exercises from many positions. Another favourite exercise of his is bridging with back to tho floor and also facing the floor. While in this position he exercises again for such a time that one begins to wonder how his neck can stand the strain. Tho davjj training is over. “Gee. but I enjoy that. You know, that exercising becomes such a habit that one enjoys it, just as another man enjoys a cigarette or a cigar. Now for a bath and then dinner.” So the Turk Finishes the day’s work. DIFFERENT WORK Logan’s work for the day is a little different. Ho runs about eight miles in tho morning and follows up with exercises with a developer, as well as exercises on tho floor. But he does not say much about his training. He is just content to do it. Ho>vever, he pays particular attention to his diet and he can converse on the subject very ably. “The biggest part of your training is to watch your diet,” says Logan. “If you don’t your system gets all out of condition. “I have heard that the Turk is very confident that he can beat me,” said Logan, “but I am just as confident as he is. I realise that I am up against a tough proposition and that I have a hard contest before me, but I think 1 am going to spoil his record in this country. I am very fit and it will not bo for want of trying if I do not defeat him.” The Turk is philosophical. “The best he can do is to beat me, and I am not afraid. If he does, good luck to him, but I think it will bo another win for me,” is his idea of the result.
Whichever man wins there appears to be excellent prospects for a spectacular and scientific contest.
