MONEY RETURNED
CHARGES OF FORGERY HEARING ADJOURNED As one of the accused in a forgery case heard before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Police Court yesterday, appeared to be in a drunken condition, the hearing was adjourned until this afternoon. A charge of forging a Public Works Department money order for £7 7s lOd was preferred jointly against Sarah Jane Brown (Mr. Singer) and Philip McShane (Mr. Kerruish), both accused appearing on summons. Mr. Singer said that no one had been defrauded. McShane, who was single, had been in the employ of the Public Works Department for 26 years, and had recently told the department to forward half his wages to the other accused, who signed the order “M. McShane.” She had since handed the money back. As McShane appeared to be under the influence of liquor, Mr. Hunt decided to adjourn the case until this afternoon.
