ATHLETIC AND SOCIAL CLUB

The weekly meeting of the “35th” Athletic and Social Club was held on Wednesday evening at the Scout headquarters, Mount Victoria, Devonport. Boxing contests were arranged and there were several close bouts. In some cases the semi-finals were got through. Part of the finals will be fought on Monday and the remainder on Wednesday. Following are the results of some of last Wednesday’s matches:—Evans beat Owens, Burdot beat Mann, Montgomery beat Turner and Selwyn beat Curtoyne. Mr. E. Devall won the prize for the most original dress at the meeting. The buffet, which was opened recently, was well patronised. An orchestra is being formed, and when it is in full swing a dance will be held.
