ANOTHER GROUP SEEKS PERMIT TO OPEN COUNCIL TO INQUIRE When Amalgamated Theatres, Limited, made application to the City Council last evening for permission to open its four picture houses on Sunday evening next, the council declined authority and referred the question to a committee. Tho applicant firm said it. desired to bo treated as other theatres, which opened on Sunday evening had been treated. ‘‘This is a very big question,” remarked the Deputy-Mayor, Mr. A. J. Entrican, in suggesting that the Finance Committee make a report. Cr. G. Grey Campbell recalled that Cr. H. P. Burton had asked tor a report on the opening of theatres on Sundays. When would that report be made? asked Cr. Grey Campbell. “Not tonight,” said Mr. Entrican.
