POPULAR CONSTABLE

PRESENTATION AT TE AWAMUTU From Our Own Correspondent TE AWAMUTU, Wednesday. There was a large attendance at a social held in honour bf Constable F. J. Hooker, who has been promoted to take charge of the Paeroa police district. The Mayor, Mr. C. G. Downes, presided. and said they regretted losing Mr. Hooker, who had proved himself a conscientious and efficient officer. On behalf of the subscribers he handed to Mr. ITooker a Westminster chiming clock and a case of razors. Mr. A. .7. Sinclair, Mr. W. J. Jeffrey and Mr. S. S. Preston added their good wishes for a. successful career. Constable Hooker suitably responded.
