IS BIBLE A MYTH?

LECTURE BY DR. C. S. BONE SCIENCE AGREES WITH BOOK A claim that there was no material difference between the utterances of the old Bible and science was made by Dr. C. G. Bone, M.A., Ph.D., in the course of a lecture in the Town Hall concert chamber- last evening. In an interesting discourse on the subject of “Is Rationalism Rational?” Dr. Bone presented. in lucid and fluent, style, Ills views on the ohscuro meanings of more prominent quotations from the Book.

The one word of the Bible if removed left a meaningless jumble of nonsense was Jesus, but he claimed that where the word was used it referred to a principle. He asserted that in fact each one of the proper names in the Book meant a truth or a principle. Dr. Bone went on to show that even down on the lowest forms of life the masculine and feminine principles existed, and it was always the function of the latter to manifest the value of the former. In the human sphere the character of a person’s thoughts determined the quality of the cells of the body, and he suggested that invariably character was pencilled in the lines of the face. Dr. Bone discussed the mental aspect at some length, stating that science had established that the average man developed only 33 1-3 per cent, of his brain during his life, and only 12 per cent, of this portion after adolescence.

“This shows how much thinking we do.” he remarked. “Yet we hear people talk ot growing old. We don’t —we get old when we cease to grow.” The lecturer impressed upon the audience the necessity ot having complete mastery of their thoughts and jettisoning anything that was unclean or impure.

He ridiculed the idea of there being a Garden of Eden, which he said had been discovered so many times in different countries. The only Garden of Eden there had ever been, he asserted, was the human body. The speaker went on to quote facts in support of this contention. He advocated the development of the third eye, the existence of which was known to science, and he suggested that great’ enlightenment would follow.
