WHEN A BULL ENTERS A CHINA SHOP BUT HOW ABOUT A CAR? Every child knows what happens when a bull enters a china shop. . . . The effect of a baby car’s sudden entry into a secondhand furniture dealer’s establishment is, perhaps, not so easy to foresee. Vyi-lEN Mr. J. N. Whittacker left his small car outside business premises in Eden Terrace shortly after 11 o’clock this morning he did not expect the “baby” to take it upon itself to start off on a brief but “fruity” career of destruction. PERFECT CURVE But that is what it did. Moving off for no apparent reason, it desseribed a beautiful and, according to onlookers, almost perfect, parabola. It. might have struck a telegraph-pole, or mounted the footpath and spent its momentum harmlessly against a neighbouring wall. Instead it took a turn—slight, but necessary for its successful negotiation of the doorway —and entered triumphantly Mr. H. C. Mackenzie’s furniture shop at the corner of Basque Road and Eden Terrace.

The car, a light-weight, like‘all its species, had gathered extra avoirdupois on its run. It dislodged a heavy case. The case toppled over sideways . .. . and a plate-glass window fell in pieces on the pavement. Tire car suffered little damage. It was “picked up” and taken away.
