WHITE ENSIGN CLUB

SMOKE CONCERT HELD About 120 members and guests were present at a smoke concert arranged by the White Ensign Club in the Union Buildings last evening. Commander Nelson Clover, of H.M.S. Philomel, was the guest of honour. An excellent vocal and instrumental programme was arranged by the executive of the club and reminiscences were exchanged. Mr. Morante, one of the four remaining Naval Veterans in Auckland, was present, and he recalled several incidents that happened to him while serving in the Navy before the days of steam. Several toasts were proposed and altogether a very enjoyable evening was spent. A smoke concert Is held by the club every month.
