IDLE AND DISORDERLY
TWO MEN CHARGED Howard Harold Walker, who was found sleeping in a bathing shed, was remanded for a week at the Police Court today to get a clean-up. Walker, a bootmaker, aged 46, was charged with being idle and disorderly, with insufficient means of support, Edward Robert Crawford, who was arrested at the same time, pleaded «U*lty to a similar charge and was remanded to appear on September 4. Both men had lists. Chief-Detective Hammond said ihat both were found in the Herne Bay bathing-sheds this morning. There was a bottle of methylated spirits and a quantity of charred paper beside them. "Walker is a shoemaker and has a job at Taumarunui, where he will go after lunch today,” said Staff-Captain Holmes. In answer to Mr. Hunt, he said accused would walk there. On the suggestion of Chief-Detec-tive Hammond, Walker was remanded for a week to get a clean-up and get the drink out of his system. Crawford was remanded for sentence until September 4.
