OVERSEAS MAIL

LARGE CONSIGNMENT Two large consignments of English and American mail are to reach Auckland by the Royal Mail liner Niagara and the Swedish motor-ship Parrakoola. both of which are scheduled to arrive in the second week in September. The Niagara Vancouver for Auckland last Wednesday. The amount of mail the vessel is carrying has not been announced, but her consignment is usually about 2,000 bags. An unusually large amount is being carried by the cargo vessel Parrakoola, which left San Francisco last Saturday with 535 bags for New Zealand. This probably includes mail that would have been forwarded by the Tahiti. The Parrakoola is an exceptionally fast vessel, her speed being more than 16 knots. She is scheduled to reach Auckland on September 10, two days after the Niagara.
