MAORI PLEADS GUILTY

THEFT FROM VESSEL Pleading guilty to the theft of goods from the steamer Herekino, owned by Wilson’s Portland Cement Company, Mati Kura, a Maori labourer, aged 24, was remanded at the Police Court today to come up for sentence on September 3. Kura, alias Jack Mokara, pleaded guilty to stealing one whistle, a pair of trousers, a pair of braces, and two keys, the property of Frederick Savage, on August 26. Mr. Aekins appeared for accused. The remand was granted on the application of Chief-Detective Hammond.
