ATTACKED IN STREET
VISITOR HIT ON HEAD WITH BOTTLE TWO “HELPFUL” STRANGERS Press Association WELLINGTON, Today. Admitted to hospital with a wound in his head and cut hands, a man named Leslie Wilson, alleged that he was the victim of foul play. It is stated that he came to Wellington from Te Kuiti and was seeking a room in which to spend the night. In Abel Smith Street he was met by two men and he inquired of them whether they knew of a suitable room. The pair said they did and asked him to go with them. The party went along toward the Basin Reserve and when they were near the rear gate of the Technical College it is alleged that Wilson was struck over the head with a full bottle of beer, being knocked unconscious and then robbed. At this stage the caretaker of the Technical College put in an appearance and the assailants made off. The police were called and Wilson was taken to hospital, where he was found to have a severe cut on his forehead, another wound at the hack of his head and cuts upon his hands. Wilson is about 36 years of age. He found that he had lost 10s. though £3 10s in a small inside pocket had not been discovered. Two stitches were inserted in his forehead. No arrests have yet been made.
