MINERS CEASE WORK
MILLERTON MINE IDLE PROTEST AGAINST DISMISSAL Press Association WESTPORT, Monday. As a result of a stop-work meeting held by the Millerton Miners’ Union yesterday in connection with the dismissal of an employee, which was claimed to be a case of victimisation, the colliery will remain idle until such time as the matter is satisfactorily adjusted.
Four men ceased work as a protest against the alleged unfair distribution of overtime. Three of the party were reinstated after interviewing the manager, but it
is stated that the fourth was refused employment, aftid his decision precipitated the trouble. It is understood that the West Coast Miners’ Council will be asked to deal with the trouble.
